DOVETON FOOTBALL SHINES BRIGHT UNDER NEW LIGHTS

Footballers will be scoring more goals well into the evening at Waratah Reserve in Eumemmerring, thanks to upgraded pitch lighting backed by the Allan Labor Government.

Member for Dandenong Gabrielle Williams joined Casey Council Mayor, Cr Stefan Koomen and the Doveton Soccer Club to officially flick the switch to start the club’s first NPL home game under the new lights, made possible by the Allan Labor Government’s Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.

Works at the venue have installed 100 lux LED lighting around the club’s main pitch, giving Doveton’s 155 players additional opportunities to perfect their game.

Brighter lights allow better use and increased number of playable hours. The new lights will also help expand junior development programs and teams, giving more aspiring footballers the opportunity to kit up and get in the game.

The upgraded 100 lux LED lighting will last longer than traditional lighting and reduce energy use and cost.

The Victorian Budget 2024/25 is providing more than $23 million to continue delivery of community sport and active recreation infrastructure, and programs to increase participation opportunities and improve accessibility.

Initiatives like these create jobs, stimulate local economies and improve the health, wellbeing and social outcomes for Victorian communities.

Gabrielle Williams MP acknowledged Casey City Council for its financial contribution and commitment to delivering the project.
