BOOST FOR DANDENONG NATIONAL YOUTH WEEK CELEBRATIONS

The Andrews Labor Government is helping local young people put on events and celebrate National Youth Week, with $225,000 in National Youth Week grants announced today.

State Member for Dandenong, Gabrielle Williams , has welcomed a $2,000 grant for City of Greater Dandenong to support their Strengthening Social Cohesion in Greater Dandenong project. Greater Dandenong Youth and Family Services in partnership with young people will host a ‘Cultural Harmony Youth Leadership Summit’.

The summit will bring together a diverse group of young people, aged 12-25 years to share their views and experiences on the theme of strengthening cultural harmony in Greater Dandenong, including the sub themes of belonging, participation, inclusion, recognition and civic engagement.

National Youth Week is an annual week-long celebration of young people aged from 12 to 25 years old, allowing them to express their creativity and have their say about issues important to them. It is a partnership between the Victorian and Federal Governments.

Young Victorians have a valuable contribution to make in Dandenong and the Labor Government is helping them develop their skills and make their voices heard. Last year the Government consulted with thousands of young Victorian to help develop its new youth policy, which will be announced later this year.
