BOOST FOR DANDENONG SKILLS AND JOBS CENTRE

The Andrews Labor Government is helping Dandenong locals access vital career and training advice thanks to a $620,000 boost for Chisholm’s Skills and Jobs Centre.

The Dandenong Skills and Jobs Centre helps more than 200 job seekers each month, giving them access to skills development, job readiness, and the training and career support they need to find employment.

The team at the Dandenong Skills and Jobs Centre also deliver career and job ready lectures at local high schools and have developed a series of job ready training in pre-apprenticeship courses.

There are 30 Skills and Jobs Centres across the state, providing services to students looking to start training, employers, workers needing to reskill and people needing support to re-entre the workforce.

They have already helped more than 21,000 Victorians with career and employment transition support, training and skills advice, industry engagement opportunities and skills assessment and Recognition of Prior Learning.

The boost comes from Chisholm’s Skills First TAFE Community Service Fund, which helps TAFEs support students to finish their training by funding counselling and welfare services, and language, literacy and numeracy programs.
