GIVING DANDENONG KIDS THE SCHOOL FACILITIES THEY DESERVE

Students in Dandenong will have the modern classrooms and school facilities they need, to get the great education they deserve, thanks to a major upgrade by the Andrews Labor Government.

Member for Dandenong, Gabrielle Williams, today announced $5.1 million for Dandenong West Primary School in the in Victorian Budget 2018/19 for its exciting new upgrade.

Funding will upgrade and modernise facilities at the school, including demolition of existing facilities to allow construction of new learning community area that will provide 5 new classrooms, administration and staff workspaces. Funding will also be allocated to the construction of a new multipurpose and canteen. Works will also address re-appropriation of the west side of the heritage building to accommodate administration and staff space.

Thanks to the planning funding provided in the 2016-17 State Budget, this project can now appoint a builder to commence construction.

The Labor Government is building the Education State so every Victorian student can get a great education and every community has access to a great local school.

This includes an unprecedented $3.8 billion investment to improve classrooms, upgrade facilities and build new schools across the state.

This school building boom has delivered more than 1,300 school upgrades and 70 new school projects across the state, supporting more than 5,000 construction jobs for Victorians.
