METRO TUNNEL TO CUT TRAVEL TIMES FOR DANDENONG PASSENGERS

Dandenong passengers will be able to enjoy reduced travel times to and from new destinations at Domain and Parkville, thanks to the $11 billion Metro Tunnel project.

New modelling released today shows travel times to the St Kilda Road employment and residential precinct and the Shrine of Remembrance will be slashed by up to 25 minutes in each direction, once the new Anzac Station is built.

On the Cranbourne and Pakenham line passengers will save around 15 minutes off their journey to Parkville and 25 minutes to St Kilda Road.

Passengers across Melbourne will also benefit as the Metro Tunnel delivers quicker, more convenient journeys and hassle-free connections for tens of thousands of people each day.

This seamless interchange between train lines and frequent services is a hallmark of metro-style “turn-up-and-go” systems around the world.

The Metro Tunnel will take our busiest train lines through a new tunnel, freeing up space in the City Loop to run more trains more often. Victoria’s biggest transport project is creating nearly 7000 jobs – including 500 apprentices, trainees and engineering cadets.
