One of the largest pharmaceutical tablet making facilities in the world will be built in Dandenong as part of the Andrews Labor Government’s investment into jobs and manufacturing.

Member for Dandenong Gabrielle Williams announced Komipharm International Australia would receive a grant to help the company expand and create a new global headquarters and research and development hub in Dandenong South.

The company will hire 40 new workers, including 10 people who lost their jobs in the automotive industry.

The commercial-in-confidence grant is from the Andrews Labor Government’s $33 million Local Industry Fund for Transition (LIFT) which is designed to fund business expansions to create new jobs for retrenched automotive workers.

Komipharm will also expand its global sales footprint through better access to markets in North America and Western Europe.

The company was one of 12 companies to share in $6.47 million in LIFT grants announced this week.

The LIFT fund is part of the Labor Government’s Towards Future Industries: Victoria’s Automotive Transition Plan.

The Automotive Transition Plan is designed to help businesses, workers and communities affected by the closure of automotive manufacturing operations meet future challenges of reemployment and capitalise on job opportunities.
